6 Dance Locals That’ll Hit Harder Than The Headliners At Splendour In The Grass

There’s no denying that Australian dance music is so hot right now with many local producers breaking through to global listeners.

With a stack of our favourites getting the nod for a spot at this years Splendour in the Grass it’s even more obvious that things have changed when it comes to deciding if you should cop an international or instead, opt in for a local to get lit to.

This years spread of Australian DJs and producers is vast as you’ll see on the official Splendour in the Grass lineup but there’s six in particular we’re most amped for when we need to get our gumboot-shuffle on.

Japanese Wallpaper

Sitting on the lower beats per minute scale Japanese Wallpaper will be an early afternoon treat. Couple his sounds with a live set up and backlog of original material there will be plenty of smiles and hugs going around.

GL

One of the more underrated artists at Splendour, GL represents that feel good, dance your heart out, hands up sort of scenario. With their live show toting throwback 80s-90’s dance moves and retro threads, you’ll be air-keyboarding before you know it.

Akouo

The real tassy devil… Akouo’s really making 2015 his main squeeze with big originals and remixes so an easy inclusion at Splendour in the Grass. His energy-centric show includes punching away at a launchpad and getting the crowd involved every step of the way.

Carmada

What’s not to say about Carmada? The brains that is L D R U and Yahtzel (watch him play video games " target="_blank">here) combine for a super crowd friendly, trap junket that will surely be a highlight for many. Maybe? Nah, a sure bet.

UV Boi

Wipe away those tears, Brisbanes UV Boi WILL be at Splendour in the Grass where he’ll probably make you cry tears of joy. His muddy, rnb inspired originals and remixes flow together like sweet berry wine.

Mickey Kojak

With a national tour already under his belt this year as well as a ton of play on Triple J plus a decent amount of supports including Hayden James you’re best bet is locking into MK’s set. It’ll be upbeat and a-steaming to keep you warm when the nights getting chilly!
