Spice Cellar Moves Outside of the Lockout Laws

Innovative late night clubbing institution Spice Cellar has made the move to the inner-west to escape the archaic lockout laws.

The laws introduced last year led to a number of club closures in New South Wales and affected late night trading with limits placed on entry times and service of drinks.

In turn this severely hurt the Spice Cellar and it’s curation of European tipped sounds that made it a popular early hours foray.

The move sees Spice Cellar management take over famed LBGT bar The Imperial in Erskineville that also hosts one of the biggest Friday night parties Meanwhile.

What does it mean? Bigger capacity, late nights and longer sets with internationals and locals Steve Bug, Andras Fox and more set to play over the next few months.

Founder Murat Kilic outlines some of the staged changes that’ll happen overtime;

“When we first go into the project, there won’t be any monumental changes, but more so refinements of product offerings, better sound systems and striking entertainment throughout the venue,”

Talking with the Star Observer he said the current community will not be moved aside and rather continue the divsirty that The Imperial boasts;

“By curating a mixed program of events and an open-minded door policy, the Imperial will become a melting pot of diversity and reunite with its illustrious past as a place for the people – no prejudice, striking world class entertainment and good honest fun.”

All in all, good news and no doubt the next stage of Sydneys clubbing evolution.
