Modeselektor Produced Omar Souleyman’s Latest Track

Maybe Hip Hop and electronic isn’t the way and instead middle-eastern folk cross techno should be the new thing?

As it is with Berlin duo Modeselektor producing Omar Souleyman’s latest track “Enssa El Aatab” that weighs in at a healthy nine and a half minutes.

The track is seriously addictive and riddled with sharply plucked strings, looping drum patterns and a healthy, ploddy bassline.

It’s part of his forthcoming ‘Bahdeni Nami’ album that’ll also feature production from Four Tet and Gilles Peterson as well as a remix from Legowelt before it drops July 28th on Modeselektor’s Monkey Town label.

The Berlin duo celebrated the signing with a tongue in cheek statement;

“They say that we, Modeselektor, play at an awful lot of parties. Omar Souleyman has sung at a very, very large number of parties – wedding parties. We reckon that fits! The coolest man on the planet threw the wedding bouquet our way and we had no choice but to catch it. Welcome to the Monkeytown family!”

Is it just us or would this go OFF in the late hours of the club?
