American Dance Festival Says NO To Selfie Stick

Ultra Music Festival have released their annual list of banned items. The usual suspects are there, like backpacks, glowsticks, umbrellas and skateboards, but the main new addition is selfie sticks.

While the official (and real) reason for the ban is that they’re potential safety hazards and can be used as a weapon, they’re also really, really annoying – so I for one am certainly not complaining.

Ultra is far from the first place to ban selfie sticks. Australia’s Soundwave Festival has similarly prohibited them, along with the Qantas Credit Union Arena in Sydney, Perth Arena, Melbourne’s Etihad Stadium and Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane. A vastly growing list of nightclubs, venues, museums, art galleries and more throughout the world have also issued similar bans, notably the British Museum, Brixton Academy, The Museum of Modern Art in New York and The Palace of Versailles in Paris.

You can find a full list here.
