Stop the presses, stop the freakin’ presses! Steve Aoki in a spate of ‘new year, new me’ will no longer be throwing cake at festivals #collectivesigh. We get it, it’s all about evolution and on a stacked bill you don’t want to be a one note act you want to save the ace in the hole for people that would actually care about it, you don’t just cream over someone’s face they have to earn it (get your mind out of the gutter mongrels).

“To start the New Year I’m making some new changes and have decided I’ll no longer be caking fans at most festivals,” he writes. “There might be an exception here or there but for the most part I’ll be saving the CAKE for my headline shows, keeping it exclusive for the die hard fans.”

To celebrate this new chapter in the tale of Aoki the man himself has written a song just for you aptly named ‘cake face’ for free download if you’re into that kind of thing. No cake is out, is there now room for festival treat alternatives, lamingtons maybe?
