Christmas presents presents presents!!
If you’re unfamiliar (shame on you), Tom Misch is a prodigious 19-year-old singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer. For the “Out to Sea” EP, Mr. Misch has teamed up singer / songwriter Carmody, released on his own label, Beyond The Groove.
We already feel in love with previous releases, “So Close” and “Paper Planes,” so it’s to no surprise that I felt the need to pour my appreciation in the form of words today. Think John Mayer (Born and Raised Album) meets Atlas Bound meets Madeleine Peyroux.
The final installment of their “Out To Sea” EP is this glorious number, “With You.”
This soul wrenching music will put your mind at ease. Hit play and let it absorb your subconscious as you bake on a rainy day – currently I’m assembling a gingerbread house for Christmas with the EP on repeat. ‘With You’ weaves in some bluesy undertones, mimicking the sound of modern, urban London with a deliberate nod to both Misch’s US inspirations such as J Dilla and Robert Glasper, and Carmody’s folk influences such as Joan Armatrading and Judee Sill.
