In the wake of over a whopping 200 people being arrested for drug possession at Stereosonic, a recent report that’s come out in the UK has revealed that the number of deaths related to ‘legal highs’ has increased a LOT over the last five years.
Figures revealed that there’s been an upsetting 97 deaths in 2012, compared to 12 in 2009 with people calling on a government crackdown on shops selling the substances. Further more, the number of people seeking treatment has risen from 738 in 2009/10 to 2,339 in 2013.
With this scary incline comes responsible action. A number of festivals UK wide, including Glastonbury, have banned the sale of legal high drugs after UK MP Norman Baker requested a policy be put in place.
Centre for Social Justice Director Christian Guy quoted:
“This is yet another wake-up call to the dangers of so-called ‘legal highs’. Legal highs are destroying lives – it is time to get tough on those making a living out of selling them.”
The UK is proving to be less out of date than the FBI who describe a rave in a hilarious fashion. Will there be a war on ‘legal high’ drugs with so many many cases rising?
