How to have an EDM Christmas

Christmas is right around the corner! We would like to share with you some of our favourite dance music related Christmas tidbits. In case you can’t get enough dance music in your life – even during the silly season – here’s a few basic steps for having a big happy EDM Christmas.

Step 1: Decorations

You need to make sure your house looks somewhere in between the North Pole and a warehouse rave. Here’s a few houses decorated with Christmas lights that are set up to sync in with techno and EDM tunes:

We’ll start with this one of course, with lights synced up to our boy Darude’s classic track ‘Sandstorm.’ You can also catch the track in action when he’s here for Future Music Festival!

This next one is actually quite beautiful, with a snow-covered house delicately adorned by glistening lights, lit up to the sweet, sweet, techno beat. Not just any techno beat though – a techno remix of one of your favourite Christmas carols.

Here’s one more crazy dance house for you, set to the sweet remixed sound of ‘Amazing Grace’ that’s sure to put a smile on your dial 🙂

If you want more, someone’s compiled two hours of these into a YouTube playlist.

Step 2: Christmas playlist

Have you ever listened to a classic Christmas carol, only to think, “Man, this would be so much better with a heccers synth?” I know you have. So first up, here’s a Basshunter cover of ‘Jingle Bells.’

Maybe you’re in the mood for something a bit more low key? You’ll love this Kaskade remix of Bing Crosby’s classic ‘White Christmas.’ It’s actually really cool – legit. A really smooth beat, probably your best choice of these for the family dinner.

Step 3: Outfit.

You’ve got the music and the lighting sorted, now you need to decide what to wear for Christmas. If you’re a true raver, you’ll probably go for something like this:

But the rest of us might just settle for a lovely traditional Christmas jumper. And to show you that, I have saved the best for last.

This is a video of some dads in Christmas jumpers dancing to a dubstep version of ‘Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy’. IT’S AMAZING!

Finally, if you’re still unsure about what to get your loved ones for Christmas this year, we put together a great little list for any dance-music lover in your family.

Merry Christmas!
