Has Deadmau5 taken inspiration from Japanese audio visual and sound artist Ryoji Ikeda?
The Canadian producer who has predominantly quit SoundCloud after creating his own subscription service returned for a stint putting a sine wave inspired track dubbed ‘432’.
The story behind the name? “This is what happens when you play a sine wave at 432Hz.”
It automatically re-ignited our thoughts on Ryoji Ikeda who we were lucky enough to see talk on our journey at this years RBMA in Tokyo. The premise of his work is to create frequencies and white noise, ideally pitting the human body against sound and image. Can you imagine Deadmau5 doing this to a Las Vegas ‘EDM’ crowd (Joel, if you are reading, please do this!)?
