UK Vinyl Sales Just Achieved Something Amazing

Sales of vinyl in the UK have just hit one million sales, a first since 1996 with that figure expected to rise over Christmas according to the Official Chart Company.

Turns out we’re all beginning to appreciate the wax more than ever, especially with events dedicated to the stuff such as Record Store Day that has consistently grown over the past few years globally.

OCC managing director Martin Talbot chuffed to the BBC “In an era when we’re all talking about digital music, the fact that these beautiful physical artefacts are still as popular as they are is fantastic.”

They will actually be launching a weekly vinyl chart to reflect the popularity of the sector now believed to be worth £20 million pounds.

Although with a huge decline in the sale of CDs in Australia Marketing Mag actually suggest that vinyl sales here at home have jumped an insane 77% in the past year, not bad!

With better promotional tactics of pushing the good stuff that usually includes a digital download of the release along with your big plastic disc there’s no wonder people are turning back the tech, or even inventing it – see the turntable made out of lego.

What was the last vinyl you picked up?
