Pioneer DJ Releases CD-less CDJ’s… Welcome The Digital Only XDJ1000

Pioneer DJ continues its industry changing moves in the dance world following the release of a number of dedicated Serato built controllers and now, a CD-less CDJ dubbed the XDJ1000.

The announce of the ‘digitally focused’ XDJ1000, priced at a reasonable $999 pushes CDs one step closer to the grave with it only accepting USBs. Should be noted it’ll also working closely with Rekordbox and Pioneers new KUVO audio tracking software that will be launched in Australia next year.

What does it all mean though?

Keep your eye on prices for CDJ-900’s and 2000’s that might drop when the XDJ1000 is released slightly cheaper than a standard unit. That and some odd looks when these first appear in the club and you go to jam a round shiny disc into a non-existent slot.

Overall the XDJ1000 looks like a well rounded piece of kit and staying just ahead of the digital movement.
