Young Entrepreneur Runs $8 Million Dollar ‘Gloving’ Business

Entrepreneur Brian Lim, 27 didn’t know what ‘gloving’ was back in 2010 where he was first introduced by his girlfriend, now fiancee to the growing trend of gloves with built in LEDs that were commonly being used at raves.

Now, some four years later he runs a multimillion dollar business dubbed EmazingLights that sells gloves running from $20 to $120 as well as sister company iHeartRaves that looks at festivalware that boasts 43 employees and expects $12 million earnings in 2015.

“Gloving is very popular because of the dance floor behind it. Kids are practicing every day for hours upon hours,”

Lim said his company is growing 20-30 per cent year over year and has already netted his company a top 500 spot in Inc Magazines ‘fastest growing companies’ in the private sector in the US.

For those not in the know, ‘gloving’ is the visual accompaniment found at raves with LEDs sewn into the fabric with the users spinning and twisting their hands in pre-practiced routines.

Although not usually found in Australia the scene seems to be huge in the US with the explosion of EmazingLights popularity and of course earnings of a bootstrap startup the proof that there is a market.
