Crystal Castles are no longer.
After three genre-defining albums and a career that really helped shift the spotlight onto experimental electronic music, one half of the Toronto duo, Alice Glass, announced yesterday over Facebook that she was leaving CC, thus ending their run.
It’s a sad day for electronic music. Personally, Crystal Castles were one of the first electronic acts on the stranger side of things that I was really drawn to – especially their glitchier, noisier and more chaotic tracks. Take ‘Alice Practice’ for example. That three-minute non-song will forever hold a special place in my heart.
Their groundbreaking career spanned an impressive 11 years and three full album. The pair, consisting of Glass and Ethan Khan last visited Australia for the 2013 Big Day Out.
