A new service called Tidal has just launched across the UK and the US, pushing a higher quality experience offering roughly four times the 320 kbps bit rate of other streaming services such as Spotify for $19.99 a month. Claiming to offer 25 million songs and 75,000 music videos as well as your standard curated recommendations, playlists and features for subscribers.
Originally launched in Norway the company’s director Peter Tonstad stated the service was launched to fill the void left by an exponential increase in high end sound system sales and only compressed digital music services to play on them, now with Tidal “it’s finally possible to match the quality of the music you play with the gear you play it on.”
