With his debut full length set for release early November Venezuelan Producer Alejandro Ghersi aka Arca is reluctantly catapulting towards a very interesting career in music. With a small but strong catalogue of production credits including Mykki Blanco and Kelela as well as dropping two solo EPs in 2012 saw Kanye West enlist the little known at the time beat maker amongst Londoner Evian Christ and Hudson Mohawke as production consultants on a little thing call Yeezus.

A month after Yeezus Arca self released his  ‘&&&&&’ mix-tape in a real flex move the illusive producer then disappeared from limelight as the spotlight was looking pretty hard to find him. Since ‘&&&&&’ he’s featured production on FKA Twigs‘ (who’ll play this years Laneway Festival) EP2 as well taking on co-production duties for Bjork’s forthcoming 8th studio record relishing in the ability to lose yourself in someone else’s music and ideas.

Ghersi’s forthcoming solo album ‘Xen’, named after a fictional alter ego of the producer’s the record will be an exploration inside of the artist’s own subconscious and “although it shares much of its instrumental palette with dance music,  ‘Xen’ doesn’t adhere to a reliable grid; and while there are poignant swells of melody, demonstrating his ability to write a good pop hook doesn’t seem to be a concern.” (Emilie Friedlander, Fader)
