Jeff Mills Defends EDM In New Interview

Currently on tour around Australia to promote his latest record Chronicles of Possible Worlds living legend Jeff Mills has stepped in defence of EDM in a new interview with dance music bloggers Inthemix saying it is not the first ‘scapegoat’ in music.

EDM like trance in the past has a tendency to be looked down upon but Mills preaches a more each to their own approach saying “people do what they feel compelled to do, and if people like it or not, that’s really their personal preference, and it’s always been like that.”

I think it serves a purpose. It’s fine. People love it. This is not the first scapegoat of electronic music. Many years ago it was trance music, and before then it was something else. I think that we’re moving along in a very healthy way all together.

Detroit native and one of the Techno greats Jeff Mills has seen the rise and fall of genres in clubland since taking off in the clubs in the 80s, EDM is not destroying or tainting anything while it stands very loudly in the mainstream spotlight. If anyone has a standing on the subject Mills has the capital to stand up and humbly tell naysayers to pipe down the hate and if they don’t like what music is being made go out and find something they can get into or find the compulsion to create something themselves.
