Can You Remember Dillon Francis’ Early Tracks?

From low swinging moomba-beats to a jam packed debut album with features from The Presets, Major Lazer, DJ Snake and TJR as well as headline slots at festivals worldwide it’d be an understatement to say Dillon Francis hadn’t come a long, long way (especially from that snap above)!

So as we celebrate the release of Dillon Francis’ ‘Money Sucks, Friends Rule’ album in Australia today through the good people at Sony it felt like no better time to dust off a handful of classic Dilly tracks for a trip down nostalgia lane.

We’ve picked three of his early gems that played an important part of Dillon’s career and probably an eye opener for new fans. Did we miss any?

1. Dillon Francis – Masta Blasta (2010)

Considered by Dillon as the first track he was recognised for “Masta Blasta” is a straight up killer moombahton beat. In original form it was thought to have been a 130bpm house track but influences from Dutch producer Munchi changed that into a swinging, swirling gutteral dancefloor mover. Munchi also lazered it time with a " target="_blank">big ole remix of his own.

2. Dillon Francis & Dave Nada – Brazzers Theme

Well, well, well Brazzers anyone? Personally not that familiar with what that is (maybe) but if there was ever an ‘EDM’ based porno this would surely be the soundtrack to it. Cue graphic images of David Guetta and Nervo going at it. Aside from the obvious banging tune the Youtube comments really give you the laughs – Clayton Hanson “yesterday me and my friend were driving to go pick up some weed in his bad ass luxury suv and he started banging this shit. i was already high lol” – nailed it!

3. Dillon Francis – Swasher taken from the Swashbuckle EP

Guess we needed a curveball and Dillons first official EP, the ‘Swashbuckler’ release also in 2010 is just that as the title track verging on glitch/grime and something you might expect Rusko to release. It blends moombah with farty synth sounds that although might be off-putting is actually all kinds of good and would still fare well on dancefloors.

All in all Dillon must be chuffed to have finally released his debut album ‘Money Sucks, Friends Rule’ with features from all kinds of his teenage idols as well as ours (The Presets!!). Those wanting to catch him live can see him at Beyond The Valley in Victoria come New Years Eve while revellers in Sydney will have the opportunity at Field Day alongside Jamie xx, Cashmere Cat, Todd Terje, Tycho and more.

Grab it now on iTunes before the rest of the world!
