Friday Five MP3 Wrap #3: GL, Bag Raiders, Frames & Elizabeth Rose, Calvin Harris and Champagne Drip

God damn, what a week right? Luckily for you it’s almost over and hopefully you’ve got your weekends planned and ready to be forgotten (hint: come to Village Fair).

Before you power down your work PC and call it a day there’s a few more jams you should get ready for your Friday, Saturday and Sunday playlists that happens to predominately feature Australian dance producers – yew!

This is actually the third in the series with previous wraps including Kastle, Cassian and Bag Raiders as well as Rusko, Cashmere Cat, Swick and Aphex Twin so things are steaming along nicely.

GL – What Happened To Us?

GL appeared out of now where and signed on with new Australian label Plastic World (home to Alba, Cassius Select and Tuff Sherm). If there ever was a reason to use the word shimmering it’d be for this boy-girl duo and their glazed single “What Happened To Us”. Remixes? Yep, Detroit don Terrance Parker and Gerd Janson.

Kimbra – Miracle (Bag Raiders Remix)

Wan’t sure where we stand with Kimbra’s new one but the Bag Raiders have given “Miracle” a decent dusting of thud, melodic magic and cowbell. It certainly takes a while to get there but once it does your in for a real treat. Other remixes dropped from Client Liaison and DJ Shadow.

Frames & Elizabeth Rose – Intentions

Groan… more Australian music right? Ha, if you haven’t noticed already Australia is whopping some serious butt right now in the dance realms. Cue the silky combination of Frames and Elizabeth Rose with their double-a side release on October Records. Of the two we’d pick “Intentions” as the go-to for its pumpy disco heart and warm vocals. Bring on summer!

Calvin Harris Ft. John Newman – Blame (Pipe Down Chachi Remix)

Calvin Harris’ new one “Blame” is about a big of an anthem as you’d expect from a guy literally rolling in money according to Forbes. Sydney artist Pipe Down Chachi thought he could give it a bit more movement while still retaining that heart bursting feel good bits. Adding some big clappy moments with a trap breakdown and you’ve got a remix more digestible in the clubs. More to come from this new artist!

Champagne Drip – Radio Bikini (EP Preview)

Who is Champagne Drip? Who knows but his/her/its ‘Radio Bikini’ EP out now on Mad Decent premium is sounding rather fun. In the realms of Jersey, 8-bit and what not you’d be hard pressed not to find something to like on the four-track release.

That’s it for ‘nother instalment of Friday Five Wrap. Catch you on the flip side!
