Yep you can always count on scientists to figure out cool shit, as it is with phone company Nokia teaming up with Finnish eggheads Queen Mary University to develop a battery powered by sound.

“Being able to keep mobile devices working for longer, or do away with batteries completely by tapping into the stray energy that is all around us is an exciting concept,” – QMUL engineer Joe Briscoe.

The prototype so far can react to the sounds of traffic, street noise, human voices and importantly for dance fiends, loud music!

Although a couple years out it’s still exciting that these technologies are being researched and furthered to help the end user get the most out important things like a mobile phone that has become synonymous with those always listening to music!
