Consistently strong garage duo Gorgon City tipped us off late last week they’d be finally joining the ranks of the elite by airing their BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix and unsurprisingly, it’s as good as you would expect.

With their last few originals teetering on the pop spectrum you’d think their mix could potentially falter in not being serious enough to keep listeners locked in for a two hour stint. Thankfully it’s deeper, techier and harder than we’d imagined and plenty more with originals and remixes from Huxley, Cyril Hahn, Hot Since 82, George Fitzgerald, Dusky, Jesse Rose and even Claude VonStroke’s monster “Eye! Eye!” among others.

The mix lands just prior to their anticipated debut record ‘Sirens’ due out October 6th via Black Butter / Virgin EMI.
