HARD events owner Gary Richards, who DJs and produces music under the Destructo moniker has given fans heading to HARD Summer this coming weekend a stern warnings about whats on and whats not.

Posting to his Facebook page he subtly hinted “don’t be that guy. know before you go” along with a focal image of a male wearing a whole armload of kandi alongside extra no no’s with pictures of backpacks, DSLR cameras, spray paint and strangely a dog?

Lots of criticism landed in the comments with some wondering exactly why things like camelpacks were banned from the event with Gary’s reply an understandable reason behind the ban while still avoiding the ‘kandi’ issue.

“We will have multiple free water re-fill stations throughout the festival site. You can fill up any water bottle at all of these locations. We can not allow camelbacks to enter the site because they are bags that fans can easily hide contraband in. Eliminating camelbacks also expedites the festival entry / search so everyone can enter the festival site swiftly once arriving at the park.”

It’s good to see HARD events taking into consideration that a lot of people like their events and maybe lines are a bit of an issue in the past and this is one way to combat that? Also the fact that drugs are becoming a talking point of ‘EDM’ events and this is a fairly straight forward way of stopping bulk illegal narcotics making their way into the party.

The kandi front seems more than anything a personal gripe of Garys and something we’d have to agree looks pretty stupid and support the decision. Thankfully Australia has yet to adopt the arts and crafts side of dance music and instead can make friends the usual way (hint: talking/dancing).
