Aussie House Head Acaddamy On The Future Of Live DJing

With an interesting array of new technology emerging in the world of DJing, we went to seek the thought of one of Australia’s brightest house heads. In his tenure producing house music, Aussie dynamo Acaddamy has gone from working at a golf course to being placed in the Top 25 producers in Australia for 2013/14 as well as playing headline slots around Australia.

We caught up with the man who you may have found yourself jamming to on Stoney Roads: Volume Two who is also playing at Chinese Laundry’s BASSIC night this alongside Gladiator and Hydraulix, to chat innovation.

‘With the introduction of a new generation of controllers including Pioneer’s DDJ-SX2 (shown below), what do you see for the future of DJing?’

A – I think it’s awesome companies are pushing the boundaries of technology, a lot of artists are getting really experimental with their DJ sets including things like controllers or launch pads. There will always be DJs but over the next few years we will probably see a lot more live shows from artists.

Is there anything from the technology you’re seeing that you’d like to eventually incorporate in your set?

Yeah 100% I think the sample/launch pads would be a really cool addition. The ability to remix or add different samples of my own on the fly is exciting, it would also add a whole new dynamic to my DJ set.

See Acaddamy play at BASSIC (Chinese Laundry) this Friday night!
