From the dudes over at DIE HIGH records who undoubtedly know ‘what’s up,’ I bring you a yung bawse by the name of “Tomb Boss,” and his new track, “Toronto,” premiered on Stoney Roads. As ever cool the city where Drake is from, so is this track. By having only one other track on his soundcloud and presenting this level production quality, he exudes mystery and sparks my interest…obviously. He’s also a self confessed recluse, or “HIKIKOMORI.”

Tomb Boss not your average producer and I went to go find out why:

S.R: Whats your creative process like?

T.B I write my shit at like 5am while chain smoking, in between games of counterstrike or episodes of anime. It’s a very hit or miss process though, at that time you’re either writing absolute bangers or complete shit, and you can’t tell til you listen the next day.

S.R: What were you doing before “Tomb Boss”? 

T.B: Piloting robots in Japan. But I’ve been making music for a while I guess, I just never took it seriously until a couple of my close friends got me motivated enough to try and push myself to release music.

S.R: Who influences your music?

T.B: Fuck. Tomb Boss is the bastard child of so many different genres and artists but the influences that spring to mind are Lone and old-school Disclosure. I also think there’s a heaps 90s Jungle vibe to the way I write my breaks.

S.R: Your music has a large European influence. Are you happy staying in and representing Australia, or is overseas calling your name?

T.B: I think the Australian scene is v. fresh and forward thinking rn, but now that you’ve said that I have this image of playing on a little hidden beach in Croatia at dusk. That would be so fucking cool.

S.R: Describe your ideal night out

T.B: Going on a date somewhere small and smokey that plays weird lofi house with Skye Ferreira. Hmu if u see this Skye.

S.R: If you could sum yourself up in one japanese emoji, which one would it be?

T.B: (◕‿◕✿)

S.R: Do you have any shows coming up?

T.B: Yeah I have some shit in the works with the DIE HIGH gang, so I should hopefully be playing a few places sometime in the next few months. Also pls someone book me in Japan.
