TEED: Why Copying Someone’s Style Can Turn Ugly

In a recent interview with Listen Out touring artist Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs aka TEED, the British born electronic producer disclosed why he considers following a trend musically not often for the best outcome.

We were actually quite surprised how blunt his reply was when posed with the question on trends and his ability to skirt around them asking;

You’re renowned for straying away from trends, why is that so important to you?;

“That’s a big question. I mean if you’re a creative person and you’re trying to express yourself, then tailoring that to what’s cool at the moment or what everyone is into is not actually part of expressing yourself, and that’s just going to restrict what you’re trying to do.

Also often it’s a silly thing; three or four artists do something really great and really fresh that sounds kind of the same and then everyone else just copies it which is just kind of ugly really. I just try to keep myself to myself and that’s by doing what I like doing.”

Spoken like a true innovator and artist firmly heading forward versus floundering in a particular scene thats overly saturated, we’re with TEED on this one.

See what Orlando has in plan for the new album in our  full interview. Oh yeah, did we mention we have VIP Listen Out tickets up for grabs!!!

Pssst can’t wait to hear this live
