Watch: A Young Jeff Mills DJing In the 1980’s

Footage of a young Jeff Mills on the one’s and two’s in the 1980’s has surfaced online to give those super fans an internet boner and a good snapshot of what it would have been like clubbing to real house music before Co2 cannons and ‘drops’ hit the scene.

The video, only uploaded last week gives you three minutes of edited euphoria (m’lady) with the veteran producer throwing down some serious heat back in 1983 and generally running the joint on pure swagger!

Uploader CJ Johnston describes the moment and reasoning;

“1983 Dennis (Jeffs brother) and I worked at Omicon cable in production Jeff was just taking off at the clubs Jeff would work part time at the cable co fixing things on the bech (smarter than the rest) and WJLB at night this was shot at cheeks nightclub. On eight mile in Detroit Dennis and Jeff were always great guys!”

Jeff Mills, pictured above with Aphex Twin remains one of the cornerstones of techno since his humble beginnings fixing gear all the way forward to the world stage today. You know you’re doing it right when your Wikipedia lists your occupation as a disc jockey – hell yeah!

Can you dig it?
