Nina Kraviz describes Aus festival sounds to a ‘proper mass orgasm’

Nina Kraviz is the queen of cool, that’s pretty much an indisputable fact. After her last public mix (an all-vinyl house freakout, listen and download below), we’ve pretty much taken our hats off and yelled ‘WE’RE NOT WORTHY’ into the underground abyss.

Imagine our surprise, then, when we read that the queen herself is a fan of ye olde’ EDM. Indeed, in the latest instalment of her regular column for Groove Magazine she discussed her respect for the craft of the EDM DJ, conceived at none other than our own Stereosonic Australia tour back in 2013.

“I finished my set and rushed to the bigger stage with the famous EDM artists. I was very curious. The difference was shocking,” she reflects.

“They played on a packed stadium-size open air main stage and the effect they had on people was unbelievable. Recognizing a famous melody from the first note the crowd screamed in pure ecstasy of happiness.”

Not a bad for a year which had Calvin Harris, Tiesto and Avicii headlining! But the best appraisal is yet to come…

“The music was really loud and with all the screaming it sounded like a proper mass orgasm.”

Self-reflectively – Kraviz went on to ask if her underground techno-groove could ever gain the mass happiness of EDM. We’re betting to guess that if you gave a crowd enough pingers to take down a killer-whale you’d probably get them happy with anything. Having said that we love to see the genres respecting each other – and to see such a master respecting fellow artists makes us feel humbled indeed.

Killin’ it Kraviz!
