Klaxons Announce “3D Printed Tour”… CTRL + LEGIT?

The Klaxons elaborate marketing for their new album ‘Love Frequency’ – due out June 16 – has reached new levels, with the announcement that they are purportedly endeavouring on “the world’s first 3D printed tour” for their upcoming UK dates.

The somewhat questionable album artwork, in conjunction with their zany astronomical new clip for lead single ‘Show Me A Miracle’ had us scratching our heads – but this stunt takes the cake. The news that they intend to tour with instruments, lights and production supplied from a 3D printer has us thinking that they’re actually just having a good old laugh at our expense.

The video “documenting” the announcement has a certain off vibe to it that leaves us questioning the legitimacy of this experiment. Awkward throw away remarks (“wow, it’s kind of like a real guitar…but…not”)  and uncomfortable pauses from SJA 3D Printing Managing Director Jeffrey Royce – who gives his best ‘Brentian’ performance – makes us think this is more Slough than Chelmsford . The fact we couldn’t find any further information about SJA 3D seems to add credence to this suspicion.

We hope we’re wrong. This would be pretty rad. But the video certainly arouses some question marks. Regardless, we’re excited for the new album and the prospect of musicians playing on 3D printed instruments and equipment surely isn’t too farfetched.

Check the video for yourself. Reckon it’s legit?
