Ketamine-laced beverage kills 15-year-old at London Rave

It had been condemned as the illegal rave of the year, but the Croydon rager which saw fourteen arrested has claimed another victim – a 15-year-old boy whom has been pronounced dead after drinking a beer laced with ketamine.

Around 1300 ravers attended the illegal event on Sunday – which took place in a disused post office in East Croydon after 9pm (pictured). Riot police were called around 40 minutes later – with punters from the crowd throwing missiles and fire hydrants in defence of the party, just casually.

The boy, who’s identity is yet to be revealed is just one of a group of people whom drank the fatal drink, with a 19-year-old in critical condition and six others critically injured. Nine arrests were also made at the scene.

Croydon Central MP Gavin Barwell told the BBC: “It is clearly unacceptable to have a situation where people are allowed to occupy a building, disrupt the whole public transport system and keep a lot of the people that live in the area up all night. I’m all for people having a good time but it has to be in a safe environment.”

Clearly there’s a market for it – how can we ensure that rave culture becomes safer for all whom want to partake?
