Ibiza mix: DJAA soon to play decks previously graced by Pete Tong, Luciano and David Guetta

Max ibizaWho is going to Ibiza this year (Space Ibiza voted #1 in the world F.Y.I.)? or Europe for that matter? For true music enthusiasts, there really is no greater way to spend your miserable Australian winter, other than escaping to Europe’s hot spots for international DJ indulging and Berlin, for DJ discovering.

There’s no two ways about it, Ibiza is a universal favourite for debauchery and escapism. Famous for it’s contradictions, this pocket size island bursting with nightlife NRG, over summer is temporarily home to gap year travelers on a budget (saving every dime for drugs and whatever is left over on club water), to London socialites – who know no bounds. One such man who couldn’t resist the Island’s charm six years ago, is the stylish Hong Kong-based financier, Mr Max Gottschalk. He says, “the island is beautiful, still relatively undeveloped and, although busy, not overcrowded. You can come across incredible people, from many different backgrounds, or just escape to any of the beaches spread out across the island.” Max’s success story is one you stumble across that stains your memory. At the age of 35, he bought his first recreational house in Ibiza (see image above). His house in Ibiza has an impressive mixing deck by the pool, “My birthday falls in August and so when we first bought the house, when I turned 35, I invited my friends from around the world and they all flew in, and we got a famous DJ to play. The night kicked off and we created an amazing evening. And now every year I have this opportunity to celebrate my birthday and have fun.” David Guetta, Pete Tong and Swedish House Mafia have graced those decks at his house parties in the past. Max approached DJ AA after playing at a Formula1 party in Singapore. This year, in August, DJ AA will be among those who have graced his decks in Ibiza in the past. [source Mr.porter.com]
DJ AA caught the eye of the Internet not too long ago, with a feature on Earmilk and a growing popularity on HypeM. He’s completely casual and so incredibly talented. He hasn’t produced anything yet, but what he does to mix tracks is incredible. Take his No Diggity or his Faded bootlegs for example: he speeds up the tempo when you would assume otherwise, mixes artists new and old and of all different genres, and somehow it always works. Guaranteed. He’s extremely picky and never sacrifices his integrity, often refusing paid gigs that don’t appeal to him, not out of arrogance, but out of authenticity. You can catch him DJing at his regular gig at the Chedi hotel in Oman, a luxurious Middle Eastern hotel. He spends his spare time sand dunning and camping out in the desert with friends and wife. By day, he spends time in the family business of construction. A complete oddity, in the best way! A married young man, DJ’s by the pool at some luxury hotel in Oman, when he’s not manning the family construction business, all the while accumulating and mixing the most DOPE ASS tunes out there?!

It’s extremely exciting to have him join Stoney Roads, along with Pretty Pink last week this week. They both create very melodic and beleriac mixtapes, perfect for summer! Listen to these hour long tracks on the airplane to G yourself up, when you land to unwind, after your big night out to re-group, and back on the flight home to reminisce.
