Fat As Butter Festival melts away

No longer chewing the fat of the Aussie music festival scene, the Newcastle-based Fat As Butter (FAB) festival has called it quits on organising a 2014 event.

A result perhaps of spreading itself too thin, festival organisers put the cancellation of the festival down to not being able to create a good enough line up for punters. Stating this morning on their Facebook page;

“Despite 6 months of scouring the world we just haven’t been able to land a line up that we reckon you guys would come and play with.”

With seven years of festivals under it’s belt, this isn’t the first time the FAB Fest is no stranger to controversy. We notably recall the time where 2013 headliner Flo Rida was a no-show, calling in five minutes before he was due on stage and forcing festival organisers to tell festival goers, ‘Flo Rida has slept in and will not be able to make the concert’.

The festival has also had a notoriously oily reputation in the meedja – although don’t they all?

Anywhoo – we’ll remember FAB festival for some rockin’ performances inc. that of Porter Robinson, Booka Shade, Peking Duk, Mickey Avalon, Wheatus, Mystery Jets, early RUFUS and Yacht Club DJs to name a few. We also appreciate the importance of taking music to rural areas, because that shit’s for all to enjoy man.

Here’s hoping you’ll make a creamy return in 2015 FAB!
