As a producer fresh on the scene, XO (real name Sunil Heera)’s first original single is damn awesome. Previously turning out a killer edit of SOHN’s “Lessons” and being tipped as one to watch by Mixmag, BBC Radio One, and Ministry of Sound among others, this young lad is sure to be catching everyone’s ears.

XO’s production on “What’s Luv” has a perfect 2-step garage sensibility. Dry groaning bass notes with peppy percussion solidify the low end along with heavy kicks and bass drop glides. Twinkly arps with little bits of synth sounds floating around fill out the tune while Emma Corbett-Usher‘s vocals cap it off. There’s really a clever use of effects here, with reverb popping in and out on different parts.

XO will be releasing this tune himself, ahead of his debut EP which is slated to come out later in the year.
