Last week we received the tragic news that one of the pioneers of Chicago’s growing juke and footwork scene, DJ Rashad, had passed away. And even though Ikonika, Oneman, Addison Groove and Hyperdub boss Kode9 had organised a commemoration DJ set to the king on Boiler Room, initial police reports were claiming that the don had died of a drug overdose with drug paraphernalia found around his body.

But as The Guardian reports, Hyperdub have confirmed the real cause of his death as being from a blood clot in his leg, with his cousin informing the label that the coroner has determined this being the cause.
