Sydney Venues Cop More Alcohol Rules and Regulations. Where’s The Beer Baron?

Time to pack up your bags and move interstate as Rex Banner the NSW Government lays down more rules and regulations for Sydney clubs and pubs.

In a move that feels like a coward punch the local government has watched what the original lock out and service of alcohol laws have done, their effect and topped them up with a bit of extra lame that looks to combat those trying to navigate past the pesky rules.

The new laws take the un out of fun, as they take away ‘stockpiling’ drinks and ‘high risk drinks’ – aren’t they all high risk? Check out the full list below;

– No more than four drinks at a time after midnight
– No more than 2 drinks per person after 2am to prevent “stockpiling” before the 3am curfew
– Banning of bikie gang “colours” from all venues within the “CBD entertainment precinct”
– Ban on serving drinks in glass after midnight imposed on venues “with a history of violence”
– “Party boats” be banned from picking up or dropping off customers in the CBD after midnight
– Venues restricted from promoting “high risk drinks”

Although we’re all good not partying with bikies anytime soon we can’t help but feel the tighter grip you apply, the more creative people will become until a dangerous precedent is met. This could include flasks being smuggled into venues, pre-loading at home and of course alternatives, illegal ones.

After a recent weekend in Melbourne where these laws do not exist we can’t help but feel the wrong people are being punished. This all of course follows the resigning of ex-premiere Barry O’Farrell over a bottle of win… ahh the irony.
