SNL Highlight Everything Wrong With ‘EDM’ – Davinncii, Overpriced DJs and Big Drops

Comedy spinoff show SNL Digital has defrosted itself from cold storage with Lonely Planet writers and show creators Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer returning for one last season-finale by taking aim at EDM and it’s overpriced DJs, repetitive loops and of course the all encompassing bass drop.

The main character looks all too similar to the big cheese David Guetta and actually represents the amalgamation of his and fellow headline DJ Avicii’s name – Davinnicii. The short also takes a pot shot at how ‘EDM’ stars are regarded in modern times with a further play on creator, inventor and god like thinker Leonardo Di Vinci’s name.

Audience reactions are priceless and show just how short sighted your common, white bread and generic dance fans are with every electronic performance, even lacklustre ones still proving to be the ‘best night of their lives’ and the realisation ‘this is music’ – derp.

This all of course builds with a repetitive looping beat (enough time for some fine art), the gifting of giant bags of money for the set and leads to the big bass drop with unsurprising results!
