Rave History 101 (Follow Up): Jungle Fever

A couple of week’s ago we posted a story regarding Channel 4’s Music Nation documentary series tracking the development of dance music in the UK .The sixth and final instalment of the series ‘Jungle Fever‘ has aired and it does not disappoint with a insightful exploration of one of most unique and influential genres to surface in the last couple of decades – jungle.

The doco features plenty of ripper Geezer’s skankin’ out and discussing the birth and negativity surrounding the genre, the culture of buying records, clubs and drugs, how to dance, jungle fashion and other generally ‘raw’ stories of the underground. Namely, veteren Jungle pioneers Fabio & Grooverider, DJ Hype, Kenny Ken,  Nicky Blackmarket Brockie and Saul from Chase & Status, provide first hand accounts of the influence the Jungle movement had in shaping future sub-genres such as drum’n’bass, ragga jungle, footwork, 2-step, breakbeat and even dub-step. Jungle is massive.

This doco is ‘wicked, wicked’, so check it and all the other Music Nation episodes out!
