Randy Newman wants to use ‘some Swedish guy’ to make EDM

Pioneering the ‘Old-Man’ EDM (aka. Elderly Dance Music) movement – Randy Newman has told Rolling Stones Magazine that he’s interested in making an EDM record.

Master of the happy tunes, Newman grew to fame from scoring commercial films. Some of the 70-year-olds most famous works include ‘classics’ such as Toy Story, Toy Story 2, Meet the Parents and the always memorable Monsters University (top shit, mate!).

In a short exert from the interview – Newman contemplates a new venture (and is slightly racist);

RS: Is there any type of music you’d say you don’t have a feel for?

RN: I actually don’t like those sort of mellow piano player types. That kind of mood music . . . I’d like to do an EDM record – get some Swedish guy, have him do 700 dates ‘til he breaks, then get another one. I could write it. I think I could. Some of that’s kind of irresistible.

Yeowch. Do you think this old timer is struggling a little bit? And who would be this disposable Swede Newman would get the help from?

Ew.
