Porter Robinson Shares Emotional Single “Sad Machine”

Young upstart and VB enthusiast Porter Robinson has shared an empathetic new single from his upcoming debut LP ‘Worlds’ and we’re seriously feeling it!

The single follows “Sea of Voices” and continues to steer clear from the usual uplifting generic stuff floating around and instead filters a layered, beautiful and complex duet between himself and a vocoder that could have drawn inspiration from Frenchy M83 or possibly the raft of sad boys blowing up the scene. The real reason though as Porter points out;

I’d used Vocaloid as the vocals for several of the songs on Worlds, and then the idea of a duet between a lonely robot girl and the human boy who encounters her occurred to me. I didn’t have much time before I had to turn in the entire album, so I just sang the male parts. I wanted something that felt distantly sad, a little cute, surreal, hopeful, and maybe somehow evocative of fiction?

Nice one! Better still, the single will be available to buy tomorrow May 13th for the mega fans while the full release will drop August 12th WORLDwide.

Liking it?
