Four Tet’s Text Records has been busy of late, releasing two split 12″ singles with one titled ‘KHLHI / Sext’ (TEXT029) and the other, more recent ‘Ascii Bot / Blatant Water Cannon’ EP coming soon after he himself being crazy busy, producing albums for Omar Souleyman and Neneh Cherry, working with Jamie xx and Terror Danjah and whoever else. For this 12″ under his Percussions guise, the A-side cycles a mesmerising house groove frothing layers of E2-E4-like arpeggios and gently escalating pads for a perfect dawning beach sessions, while B-side ‘Blatant Water Cannon’ is less direct, more experimental, shredding up strobing samples like some Co La joint before turning on the bass-heavy garage bump for eyelid-fluttering dancefloor moments.
