EDMbiz Conference & Expo: What does the future hold?

During EDC week the notorious playground of Sin City will be hosting top industry figures and spotlighting refreshing perspectives on the present and future of dance music at the third annual EDMbiz Conference and Expo in Vegas.

The three day event takes place June 17th to 19th and will consist of insight panels, workshops and keynote addresses from some of the globe’s biggest and brightest minds in music. The dance music melting pot will consist of labels, artists, brand execs, technologists, promoters, and more in an integrated forum environment. This year EDMbiz will include new panels, formats and speakers, as well as a new full-scale expo that will feature “EDM culture’s most sought after music and lifestyle brands.” Speakers in the past have included Pete Tong, Richie Hawton and Beatport CEO Mathew Adell.

Only a few years ago radio stations were reluctant to play ‘EDM’ and bros unfamiliar with dance music would ask if you were listening to ‘Techno’ or ‘liked DJ Tiesto’. As dance music’s popularity swiftly rises, many of those familiar with its roots have been skeptical about cash watering down quality and bypassing talent of otherwise hardworking DJ’s and producers. Lay your bets as to whether Ultra, Tomorrowland or EDC will be the first to expand an event to the moon. Maybe bet a beer or two on which producer will be the first to have a tune play from your McDonald’s Kids Meal toy. Will the Kandi culture be commercialized into ridiculously expensive headphones you can put beads on?

Be sure to look for what top industry mavens and their counterparts have to say at this year’s EDMbiz Conference and Expo while the 400,00 estimated attendees of EDC mass in Sin City. Do you think events like these help musicians and promoters direct industry flow? We can expect the event to shed light on the direction of the industry and some of the most relevant topics facing dance music culture today. What do you think industry leaders should address?
