In a new report released by the Association for Electronic Music (AFEM) the Electronic Music is worth $6.2 Billion as of this year. Damn! Unveiled at the International Music summit in Ibiza by the AFEM this week the substantial figure includes the net revenue  from festivals ($1.03 billion); Las Vegas club dates ($800 million) and other global club gigs ($2.4 billion); traditional recorded music sales ($800 million) and streaming/video services ($600 million); sales of DJ software and hardware ($360 million); DJ earnings from other ventures ($60 million) and value from other platforms like Soundcloud ($140 million) [via Billboard]

Highlighting the explosive rise in digital sales year to year, increased DJ earnings into the 10s of millions in 2013 almost doubling amongst the highest earners according Forbes from 2012 ($114 mil) – 2013 ($225) The report also singled out the success and increasing social reach of newer young artists such as Hardwell who “quadrupled the fans he added per day year-over-year…Hardwell saw as many as 70,000 new fans on social-media a day during Ultra 2014.” (Billboard)

This report is latest data effort to fasten the EDM arms race of the past few years projecting the industry’s current stance for exponential growth in the US and Global markets. Substantiated by the AFEM group which unveiled themselves last just year, not-for-profit trade body filled out by top players of the industry brought together by Manager Ben Turner and Lawyer Kurosh Nasseri, went on announce their new CEO  in the days following the report’s release.
