Avicii Concert In Toronto Leads To Hospitalized Patrons

Even after the EDM ban in Toronto’s Exhibition Place, Toronto is once again in the headlines for party-related incidents. The fully sold out AVICII show at Rogers Centre, began on a sour note as people were transported to hospital by Toronto EMS around 10:30 p.m. prior to his 11:00 p.m. set time. The pandemonium didn’t end there as a further 29 hospitalized and 1 arrest was made throughout the night.

As much as we love raving and dance music, this unusually high number has lead us to contemplate the range of error in the nature of the event. Is it the fact that the event was welcome to all ages – patrons said younger fans were sick prior to AVICCI making it on stage from binge-drinking? We saw a similar ordeal in Ireland, where Hardwell fans needed medical treatment before even entering the venue. Perhaps there should be a shift in focus from prevention (front gate security guards) to treatment (medical assistance) – 911 was called for Toronto EMS as medical assistance was understaffed.

We can’t help but speculate that all be resolved if the night was separated into an under 18 and an over 18 night. CTV News reported, “Unfortunately we have a few kids…excessive alcohol and partying and they can’t handle it,” Rotolo said. “There’s a lot of people here and a few don’t spoil it for the rest.”

Just hoping if any fornication took place they whacked on an Avicii condom so there’s not further problems in 9 months.
