Australian ‘Trop’ Producer Thomas Jack Drops New Mixtape + Who Else You Should Be Listening To

STOP, TROP & ROLL – What is Trop? and the best of the best mixtapes of it!

You may be accustomed of late this saxaphone-infused genre deemed, “Trop House.” Standing for Tropical; think palm trees, Hot Creations, Calypso and summery good vibes. Think Bakemat, Joris Delacroix and FKJ. Below are four artists that execute this summery-goodness with flare.

1) Like anything, we have a few leaders of the pack: Proud to say numero uno is Australian producer, Thomas Jack. A notable track is of his, Somewhere over the Rainbow, with vocals from Hawaiian singer Israel Kamakawiwo’ole, is well worth a check out over and above this mixtape. As well as his track, The Final Speech, with samples from Martin Luther King’s speech, made quite the online tropical storm. More recently, his remix of Benjamin Francis Leftwich’s, Snowship, is on FORM.

Mr. Jack brings it home hard with this really nice mixtape; a present to his fans as he will be “unable to perform any of the upcoming shows for May. This is due to the ongoing battle with my visa. My management team Golden Hare Group, and I apologies for the troubles…” What a sweetie you are Mr. Jack, consider yourself forgiven as I sit back and relax to this today.

2) Flying overseas, we see the likes of Netherlands youngest and finest, De Hofnar. He has been producing the crem della crem of Trop house in the last year. His finest works include Voguvault, a MOWE remix and a John legend, All of Me bootleg which just jazzes up the place. This mixtape isn’t ridiculously new, but what it lacks in new-ness it makes up for in amazing-ness. Check it here:

3) For some sundrenched balearic vibes and tropical sounds, do not pass go, do not collect 200, do not look further than: Pretty Pink. Her sets are energising yet laid back.

This Frenchy (I think?) number is also rocking, the only issue being I can’t sing along *sad face* …a first world problem if I’ve ever written one.

4) Sam Feldt is another name to note. He too is a melodic deep house DJ and producer from the Netherlands. This mixtape has been a game changer for me. Loose yourself to this:

That’s all the intell on Trop. Hopefully I got you covered for the next few months…or so.
