13TRACKS || Smoother Than The Wrong Kind of Peanut Butter Playlist || #thirteenisthenewten

Craftily selected from the overflowing supply circling the web-o-sphere, I present to you: 13TRACKS | SMOOTER THAN THE WRONG KIND OF PNB PLAYLIST| #thirteenisthenewten. A hip hop infused playlist to switch lanes to en route work this week.

1. 813 – Prpl Drunc
In lieu of supporting act, Wave Racer, who arguably stole Disclosure’s performance last week, here is 813. (Non-musically inclined, however party inclined friends, who attended the show reported back, “who was that supporting act, ‘Rave Raced?’ No, “friends,” No.). He has a similar sound to Wave Racer, and is from Russia which is pretty cool! Prpl Drunc is 1/3 of an EP, which has said to be the, “soundtrack to an infinite waterslide in a Nintendo 64-bit world.” It’s a pretty dope and playful track, have a listen!

2. Hermitude – Ukiyo
I was super keen to see new work from the duo this week. The distorted vocals go down like charm. Hermitude’s notorious remix of Hyperparadise, by Flume, recently received the GANZ treatment. It features some beautiful saxophone samples and is well worth a listen. Find out what’s the deal with the Flip here.

3. Sango x GoldLink – “Wassup”
I THINK THIS TRACK IS THE BEE’S KNEES. DAT FLUTE THO!! Watch it live at the Brocolli Festival in DC, April 19th this year.

 4. Minorstep – Your Face
Your Face is ¼ of Minorstep’s Weep EP, which is available on iTunes. This Greek creation from Geroge Kroustallis, is super clean, relaxing, and for some reason, stands out amongst other typical melodious tracks. I could listen to it for dayz…

5. Sango Ft. SPZRKT – Middle of things, Beautiful Wide (Stwo Remix).
This track is three months old (#musicblasphemy) and still does it for me, so hopefully it will for you too! STWO is the most consistent downtempo/electronic/rnb producer, so it comes with no surprise that this is SRSLY good.

6. Mazde – Our Chance ft. Curt Jones
Mazde, on first impression, sounds like a wannabe Flume. However, on further inspection, he is actually quite brilliant! Our Chance is a well-executed original, and is everything you’re looking for in a dance/hip-hop track. He does a great Milky Dance – Stolen Dance remix, as well as a Klingade – Jubel remix. You can see how much he has progressed from his very first remixes up until this original. Watch this space.

7. Reva DeVito – Friday Night (Prod. By KAYTRANADA
When Kaytranada says jump, I jump. So it was no surprise when Reva DeVito caught my attention with that sneaky, “Prod by KAYTRANADA,” in brackets. Personally, it’s reminiscent of Erykah Badu who was in Sydney last week! This track is all things awesome… and then some. It totally warrants females pumping it this Friday Night, waving their #discoarm.

8. Lorde – Tennis Court (Flume Remix)
It’s amazing how Flume balances his signature sound, with his ability to remain unpredictable. I see this one sticking around for a while…

9. Freddy Winter X Sampha – Too Much (REMIX)
I will do unfathomable things for a great Drizzy Remix. This one takes the (pound) cake.

10. Musiq Soulchild – Just Friends (Wantigga Flip)
Admittedly, I had no idea who either of these artists were. The track touches perfectly on house and hip hop – making you want to shake what yo’ mama gave ya’.

11. Lancelot ft. Ngaiire – Ain’t Nothin’ Goin’ on But the Rent
Recently, his Givin It Up EP, went viral and I was under the impression that little to nothing could top it. However, Aint nothing goin on But the Rent, has some serious RETRO SWAG, taking vocals from the 80’s hit by Gwen Guthrie. The J.O.B EP comes out today, woot!

12. Destiny’s Child – Say My Name (Cosmo’s Midnight Very Rare Bootleg)
Cosmo’s Midnight which started out as a Triple J Unearthed talent, has been taking the world by storm of late. See more on this re-work here.

13. ZHU – Move Like Ms Jackson (Outkast Cover)
With all the ZHU attention circling the interwebz, I thought I’d pay homage to an oldy. You gotta love when artists blow up, and their first couple of tracks receive the lurve they originally deserved <3.
Also with Outkast headlining Splendour, I though it would be #TotesAppropes. Although, we did hope ZHU would be playing at Splendour  *sad face*

There you have it, x minutes of SATURATED SWAG. Enjoy!
