Ryan Hemsworth Plays For Dogs At South By South Woof

Likeable and lispy character Ryan Hemsworth played this years first ever South By South Woof, an awareness program run by Thump and developed with a local dog shelter ‘Austin Pets Alive’ outside of the usual South-By antics.

The aim of the adorable day? To educate pet owners and push for adoption of dogs from shelters to help continue Austin, Texas’ lowest euthanasia rates, the lowest in the US with the goal of turning it into a ‘no kill’ state.

Although the “quietest set” he’s ever played in his life, Ryan said it was his favourite and the “only gig he wanted to play at south-by” adding “I defiantly prefer playing for dogs than humans, they seem much more into it” with the gig only tee’d up a month prior. We’re guessing a few Snoop Dogg and Bow Wow tunes made the selection.

The video looks tons of fun but does the job of drumming in the idea that pets aren’t things you can just throw away with the heartbreaking fact that dogs at the shelter are selected in the afternoons and usually only have an hour left before being euthanised. Heavy…

We picked his brain along with an intimate photoshoot last month, worth a read and look here.
