Hypem Predicts ‘Ones To Watch 2014’ – Australia Represents!

Hype Machine have released their latest ‘Ones To Watch 2014’ zeitgeist with Australian electronic groups making up a presentable chunk of the small but punchy list.

You could forgive yourself for having a chuckle at the situation as Australia’s two most thriving independents both earning inclusions with Future Classic’s electronic-swirl band Pananma happening to run alongside Mods’ groove-dance contribution to the sound with Movement. In the dance realms Australia was represented with Du Tonc, the pairing of Mighty Mouse and Matt Van Schie of Van She and more specifically their track “Darkness” which was unavoidable for any Soundcloud surfers.

The list was aimed to keep fresh and fair with good-guys Hypem excluding anyone who had graced previous zeitgeists and/or had released a full-length LP.

We revisited the list of most-blogged artists and removed any name that has appeared on a previous Zeitgeist or has already released a full-length LP. What remained were the extra-emerging acts—the ones who made a name for themselves last year (and likely no year prior), on the strength of a few tracks, maybe an EP, etc. The ones to keep an eye on. Hope you find this as fun as we did.

Other big hitters from the list without debut records included Banks, Bondax, Mø, Disclosures right hand man Sam Smith and arctic mystery SOHN.
