Disney on the D-Floor: Mat Zo remixes the Lion King’s ‘Circle of Life’

We knew it was coming, and here it is. Disney is getting the EDM treatment – and we don’t actually hate it?

We’ve been there before – DJs and producers dropping the kidlet choons into their DJ sets, but this is nek level. The album – titled ‘DConstructed’ was released yesterday and layers dance vibes from elite electronic producers over your favourite Disney tunes.

Fresh off the mark is the ‘Circle of Life’. Elton John’s original masterpiece (do I stutter?) has been reworked by Mat Zo. The trance track has an almost ethereal quality – with Zo’s trademark sounds distorted in a way we (and I’m sure others in da clurbz) will be able to embrace. After this success, we’re pretty keen to see upcoming singles from others such as Armin Van Buuren and Kaskade.

Money making scheme? Yes. Disney as a cultural overlord? Yes. Abusing munter nostalgia? Of course.

But hey, good track’s a good track.
