Arcade Fire take the piss outta Deadmau5 in St. Louis

Nothing like a good-old musicians war to freshen up your Thursday – this time round featuring feud-alumnus Deadmau5 and rockin’ cage-rattlers Arcade Fire.

It all began with a shout-out last week from Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler commending “all the bands playing actual instruments” at Coachella. A statement we don’t really endorse but we’re fans of Arcade Fire so we’ll let it slide this time.

(Fun Facts: Win Butler put on his DJ gloves at the Big Day Out 2014 after party this year, and he wasn’t half bad, the band was supported by Diplo on their Aus tour by dance music legend Diplo, James Murphy made a massive contribution to the ‘Reflektor’ album – dey love de dance.)

In a much less eloquent response, the always passionate Deadmau5 took to twitter;

And following with the subtle;

All had been quiet on the home front until last night, with Arcade Fire taking to the stage in St. Louis with the image of Deadmau5 himself, splayed over an LCD projector on a band members head (see photo above). The image popped up during the band’s cutting track ‘Normal Person’. Yeowch.

Deadmau5 did time on the band’s projector – in good company with others featured including Rob Ford, George W. Bush, Michelle Bachmann and Todd Akin (the jerk who stated that women who are victims of ‘legitimate rape’ cannot get pregnant).

Expecting a pretty big backlash on this one? So are we. Hopefully Deadmau5 will get creative and take the argument off Twitter. Maybe a satirical one man band would be a good move? Joel…if you’re listening?

Stay tuned for more in the saga.
