10 Things That Will Make You Hard About Softwar’s Record Collection

Before everyone in the world became a DJ, downloaded Steve Aoki’s Beatport chart and rocked up to a club with a couple of USB sticks… DJs actually played records!

In celebration of our Easter Sunday ‘records only’ party at the Cliff Dive in Sydney with buddies UNDR Cntrl, producers and record enthusiasts Softwar answered ten topical questions relating to their existing collection. So, in excitement of what we can expect at the party, here are some insight into their crate!

1. How many records do you have in your collection?
Well, going by how many fit into my record bag maybe about 500, never counted.

2. Oldest record in your collection?
Prob my original 1963 pressing of ‘With The Beatles’, their second studio album. I also have a bunch I got from my dad last year that I have not properly gone through which I’m sure will have some oldies in it.

3. Newest record in your collection?
Kornel Kovacs – Szikra

4. Most expensive record in your collection?
I have a Keinereche record, D.B – Anything, that goes for about $200

5. Which record would you NEVER sell?
My copy of an edit of Sting and the Police, or Roxy Music’s Greatest Hits

6. What’s the sexiest cover in the collection?
The Wurst sub-label Mystery Meat has super sexy covers

7. Best hidden gem you never knew you had?
Alan Braxe & Fred Falke – Horizon. The best of French house!

8. Where do you buy your records from?
Phonica, Juno, Discogs, friends, garage sales, second hand stores and record stores in cities we tour to.

9. What’s your fave store in Sydney?
Gus (Gus Da Hoodrat, Finger Prince, Bang Gang)

10. What’s on your slip matts at home?
Picked up some DFA ones in America a few years back.
