Watch: DJ Hookie’s Inspiring and Witty Documentary

If you’ve ever wondered about the story of long-standing Sydney legend Tom ‘Hookie’ Nash from our friends over at the formerly Club 77 based Starfuckers crews, here’s your chance to learn a little bit more about his journey thanks to the help of the eclectic-as-ever SBS crew.

The premise of the story is Hookie’s successful journey to becoming a renowned DJ and how he has lived with a visible disability. When he was 19 he suffered a virulent illness called meningococcal that caused scarring and the amputation of his arms and legs. 13 years later, Hookie gives an important and humorous insight into the misconceptions and assumptions he experiences with his visible disability – a highlight being him saying ‘yes’ to those kids who dare ask if he’s a pirate or robot.

The light-hearted short documentary is smudged in real name Tom Nash’s witty outlook and killer one liners that has helped contribute to the success of one of the longest standing weekly dance parties in Sydney, Starfuckers.
