Tiga, Green Velvet, Daft Punk, Tomorrowland and More Nab IDMA Awards

The 29th annual International Dance Music Award winners have been announced following over two million votes cast from dance music enthusiasts in over 209 countries proving electronic dance musics surging popularity across the globe.

Winners were eventually selected for 57 awards that aims to bring to life IDMA’s ethos to “place particular emphasis on innovative artists and industry” with victors praised for a whole host of categories including; Best Underground Track, Best House/Garage/Deep House Track, Best Techno DJ, Best Featured Vocalist Performance and Best Radio Station among others.

The usual suspects were named with Daft Punk earning ‘Best Commercial / Pop-Dance Track’, young Dutchman Martin Garrix for ‘Best Break-Through Artist’ and Avicii with ‘Best EDM / Pop DJ’ while more credible names such as UMEK, Green Velvet, Tiga vs Audion and Dennis Ferrer also snatching awards.

On the industry side of thing Beatport, Soundcloud and Pioneer all earned first places in their respective categories while Tomorrowland and BBC Radio also nabbed the top spot in theirs.

Strangely it was Virtual DJ that took out the ‘Best DJ Software’ category proving that you can’t always get it right when it comes to awards haha
